Quiz Competition
- SECONDARY SCHOOLS QUIZ COMPETITIONS
Reviving the reading culture, instilling pride in honest success, and reawakening the spirit of fair competition are some of the objectives that propelled the commencement of this programme in 2009. It is hoped that by handsomely rewarding honest success, young people can be motivated to strive for excellence in all they do irrespective of the challenges or odds that may be strewn their way.
The competition pits the wits of secondary school students in 5 Local Government Areas against each other at the preliminary state – 4 local government representatives are selected at this stage. The second round of the competition eliminates 10 schools and produces 2 schools per local government to progress to the quarter final stage. At the end of the quarter finals, 4 schools progress to the semi-final stage where after a round robin test, schools for the 3rd and 4th positions emerge. An elaborate grand finale is then held, usually at Rosary High School, Awgu, where the 1st and 2nd position prize winners emerge. The grand finale brings together all major stakeholders in education in Nigeria to witness the academic prowess exhibited by the students. Every episode of the championship is aired on radio to generate feedback and participation of people at home.
To ensure quality and stakeholders’ buy-in, also, the Foundation collaborates with the Ministry of Education, Post Primary Schools Management Board (PPSMB), school principals, and proprietors of private schools. We are grateful to many corporate organizations that have supported the programme. These include the United Bank for Africa (UBA) Plc, Fidelity Bank, Wiilangy Construction Company Ltd, and Bambo Consulting Engineering Construction Ltd.
