The Chairman of the Board of Trustees and Founder, Ikeoha Foundation is Senator Ike Ekweremadu, former deputy president of the senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and former Speaker of the Parliament of ECOWAS. He was born in 1962 at Amachara Mpu in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State, Nigeria, and holds Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Law from the University of Abuja, Nigeria and was called to the Nigerian Bar in 1987. Since 1998 he has been Principal Partner of Ike Ekweremadu & Co; a vibrant firm of solicitors and advocates based in Enugu. Between 1991 and 1997 he had a stint as Associate Professor in Law in his Alma Matter, the University of Nigeria (Enugu Campus) lecturing in the areas of Constitutional Law and Labour Law. He founded Ikeoha Foundation after leaving office as the first Chairman of Aninri Local Government Council in 1997. Senator Ike Ekweremadu has been a Distinguished Senator of the Federal Republic of Nigeria representing Enugu West Senatorial District since 2003. He is a member of the Nigerian Institute of Management, and also a member of the Order of Knights of the Good Shepherd in the Anglican Diocese of Enugu and Commander of the Order of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (CFR). Senator Ike Ekweremadu believes that irrespective of the fiscal challenges of growing economies, basic social amenities should be part of the fundamental rights of people.
Lady Nwanneka Ekweremadu, the vice chairman of the Board is a co-founder of Ikeoha Foundation. She was born September 10, 1966, and holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Accountancy from the Ebonyi State University, Nigeria. She was formerly a teacher at the Federal Government College, Enugu. Her love for the downtrodden is such that she has been an avid campaigner of public accountability in service delivery. A staunch women’s rights advocate, she has done a lot to alleviate the suffering of those she has come across, and believes that the personal sacrifices her family is making on behalf of disadvantaged people cannot be compared to the joy she feels each time she receives accolades from people whom her philanthropy has helped weather the storm of poverty and powerlessness.
Director of Finance
Engr. Jonathan .A. Ivoke is a member of the Board of Trustees, Ikeoha Foundation. He holds a Bachelor of Engineering degree and is a member of the Nigerian Society of Engineers, MNSE. He was the Secretary for Transportation, Federal Capital Territory Administration, Abuja, between 2011 and 2015. Before this time, he was in private practice as structural engineer. .
Cindy Anene Ezeugwu
Cindy Anene Ezeugwu is the Executive Director of Ikeoha Foundation, and ex-officio member and Secretary, Governing Council. She was born in June 1977 and hails from Nguru, Nsukka, Enugu State. She holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) in Theatre and Film Studies of the University of Nigeria Nsukka; she is a member of Nigeria Institute of Management (Chartered) and holder of Prof. James Amankulor Memorial Award as Best Graduating Student in Theatre Arts, 1998. Cindy is an innovative team player with strong tutorial, managerial, administrative and organizational skills. She had worked in the Federal Radio Corporation of Radio, FRCN and as reporter and later, presenter, at DBN Television, Ikoyi Lagos, before moving to Fidelity Bank Plc where she rose to Branch Leader in 2010 holding the bank’s prestigious Award as Number One in Account Recruitment. Shortly before joining Ikeoha Foundation, she had worked as Programme Coordinator at Healing Heart Widowhood Foundation, Enugu, between 2010-2012 where she supervised various skills development and human empowerment projects, some of which she developed and proposed. She is married with children.
Obiora Obasi is the Programme Manager responsible for fundraising and enterprise development. He was born in November 1972 and hails from Okpanku in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. He holds a Bachelor of Agriculture degree in Agricultural Economics and Extension of the Enugu State University of Science and Technology, ESUT, Enugu; an Executive Master in Development Policies and Practices from the Graduate Institute, Geneva, Switzerland; as well as Diploma in Project Management of the Advance Learning Interactive Systems Online, ALISON. He has also attended specialized trainings on NGO Management and Grants Administration by a host of notable institutions and organizations including the Center for Technical Vocational Education, Training and Research (CETVETAR), University of Nigeria, Nsukka (UNN); UPR-Info, Geneva, Switzerland; and United States Institute of Peace, Washington DC, USA. He comes to the Foundation with vast experience in the nonprofit sector having worked in the past as Animator at the Justice, Development and Peace Commission, JDPC, Ijebu-Ode; Executive Director, Gender and Environmental Development Foundation, GEDEF, Aba, Abia state; and Secretary, at the Centre for Eradication of Violence against Women, CEVAW, Enugu, Enugu State. Obiora is married with children.
Chidiebere Okoro is Programme Manager, Education. He was born in August 1974 and hails from Amaogudu in Aninri Local Government Area of Enugu State. He holds a Bachelor of Science (2nd Upper) in Sociology from the University of Calabar, and Master of Science in Criminology (in view) from the University of Nigeria Nsukka. Chidiebere is a trained HIV/Aids Peer Educator as well as our representative, as civil society partner, to the UK Aid (DFID)-funded State Accountability and Voice Initiative, SAVI, Enugu. Before joining Ikeoha Foundation, he was Manager (Admin) of Bambo Nigeria Ltd, an engineering and construction services company. He had also worked as volunteer at both HRV Consult and Lifeline Plus Foundation, a nongovernment, nonprofit organization committed to improving the welfare of Nigerian citizens. Since joining us in 2009, Chidiebere has brought creativity and strategic thinking to the work we do as he initiated and has seen to the successful growth of a number of our current programmes. He is married with children.
Chris O. Ogabido
Chris O. Ogabido is the Programme Manager (Admin/Finance) of Ikeoha Foundation. He was born on December 23, 1974 and hails from Aro-Umulolo, Okigwe LGA of Imo State. He comes to the Foundation with a rich bouquet of administrative experience, having worked for 14 years as Senior Administrative Officer in the Law Chambers of late Hon. C.O. Akpamgbo, S.A.N (Former A.G of the Federation and Minister of Justice). He holds a Diploma in Computer Operations from World University Computers Centre, Enugu and Bachelor of Science Degree (B.Sc.) from the Department of Govt. & Public Administration, Abia State University, Uturu. He has also attended staff development training in various administrative areas locally and internationally.
